Lars and Rikke – A journey filled with passion, dedication and dreams

Our journey began at Blommehaven Camping in Aarhus, a scenic gem where we found our passion for camping and nature. Here we enjoyed creating an atmosphere where guests could feel at home, and we put all our energy into making the site even more attractive. It was here that we learned the basics of the industry and understood what it really meant to deliver an extraordinary experience.

But as time went on, the dream of creating our own and being masters of our own future got bigger.

In January 2015, we took the plunge and bought Esbjerg Camping. This decision was a turning point in our lives. Esbjerg has become our heart and soul, and it is here that we have laid the foundation for everything we are today. This is where we really realized how much we love this business and the opportunities it gives us to create something unique.

In the beginning, we did everything ourselves with just four hands and a lot of help from our children, who quickly became an active part of our everyday life and helped out on site. We did it all – from cleaning and check-in to facility maintenance and guest services. It was a demanding time, but also a time filled with learning and an incredible sense of community. Our children have always been a great support and their help has been an important part of our journey.

Our journey didn’t stop with Esbjerg. In 2020, we got even more excited and bought Ebeltoft Strand Camping. This fantastic beachfront location gave us new challenges and new opportunities to create an even better experience for our guests. But our adventure wasn’t over – in 2024 we took another step and took over Krakær Camping, which we renamed Mols Bjerge Camping. A beautiful gem in one of Denmark’s most iconic scenic areas.

Although each campsite has its own charm and unique character, Esbjerg is still our foundation and our heart. It is here that we have grown into the people and the company we are today.

We have never regretted choosing this path. It’s not just a profession for us, it’s a lifestyle we’ve chosen with passion and love for both nature and the people we get to share this experience with. Our journey continues and we look forward to creating even more amazing experiences for our guests, all while continuing to cultivate the love and dedication behind every decision.

Today, we’ve grown into a company with 46 hands – an amazing team of employees and helpers who help run our campsites and ensure we continue to deliver the personal service we’re known for. It’s been an incredible journey and we’re incredibly grateful for the amazing team we have around us.

We’re all about the personal touch and it’s something we’ve integrated into everything we do. We want our guests to see us at the campsites, and although we have a great team at Esbjerg and Mols Bjerge, we have a daily presence in Ebeltoft. We believe it’s important to still be an active part of the daily life at our campsites, talking to people and being there for our customers. It is this personal presence that makes our sites extra special and allows us to create long-lasting relationships with the people we meet and give them the best memories for the future.

We also want to ensure that all our campsites meet the highest standards, which is why we are committed to cleanliness. We put cleaning first and have always focused on ensuring that our guests can enjoy a clean and well-maintained experience. Creating an environment where both comfort and cleanliness are top notch is a matter of course for us.

Every day is a gift to us and we are grateful for the lifestyle we have chosen. We love everything about what we do – from the small details of everyday life to the big decisions that shape our future. We have never regretted choosing this path. It’s not just a profession for us, it’s a lifestyle we’ve chosen with passion and love for both nature and the people we get to share this experience with. Our journey continues and we look forward to creating even more amazing experiences for our guests, all while continuing to cultivate the love and dedication behind every decision we make. And who knows – maybe there will be more spaces.

In the spring of 2024, we agreed to come up with a common name, which we quickly came up with – CampBendixen

With CampBendixen, we have chosen a name that reflects what we are passionate about – the personal and close relationship we create with our guests at each of our campsites. The name combines our family surname, Bendixen, with the well-known “Camp”, which symbolizes the warm personal and welcoming atmosphere we want to offer.

For us, camping is about more than just accommodation; it’s about being present, taking the time to talk to our guests and creating memories that last. CampBendixen is therefore the perfect name for us – it’s a tribute to our personal commitment and the community we want to foster at our campsites. It is the name that binds Esbjerg Camping, Ebeltoft Strand Camping and Mols Bjerge Camping together under one roof and clearly reflects our values of quality, proximity and authenticity.
